How to cure a fabricaholic

I am usually a pretty verbose person. I have just returned from the Arthritis NZ working bee and I am lost for words so here are some pictures.

10am arrive to find a huge room that looks like the picture above.  And this,

Quickly realise that this is no place for children so escort mine across the road to Science Alive where they spend the day happily doing this (now that is a child with well-managed juvenile arthritis!),

Get back to the working bee and find lots of amazing helpers sorting the donations.  And what did we find? Everything!  Trust me when I say that whatever fabric, notion, haberdashery item or miscellaneous crafty thing you are looking for, then it will be on Arthritis NZ's stall. We went mining and we found gold. More things than I can list or describe here.  Incredible, amazing, beautiful and inspiring things. And I'm not joking when I say that it will be arriving to the market in a truck.  Each helper had different favourites and items they put in the many boxes we labelled "Treasures".  Here are a few of my mine.

And that is just from one box.  There are this many more.

Many thanks to all the people who have donated these amazing goods and many thanks to all the helpers who came to sort it all out.  Now to make this all worthwhile we need shoppers next Sunday.  Thousands of shoppers.  Tell your friends, your sisters, your workmates and your Mum. Please. And I wasn't joking about that trailer.

Donations for Arthritis NZ's Stash reHash stall, please

Arthritis NZ welcome your donations of good quality fabric, buttons, threads, haberdashery, textiles and craft supplies to sell on their Stash reHash stall.  The response last time was incredible and meant they had a very successful day.

Pictured above are some of the donations received so far for the upcoming market, including some gorgeous fabrics donated by the the woman who interviewed me for Zest(Food,Fame & Fashion section of The Press) before the last Stash reHash market (thank you and all the best in your new life).

Arthritis New Zealand donations - Wow!

Some of you may have seen this photo of Stash reHash stall-holder Prue in The Mail recently sorting through her fabrics. It accompanied an article about Stash reHash asking for donations of fabrics, notions, yarn, haberdashery etc for Arthritis New Zealand's stall.

The response has been amazing so a huge thanks to everyone who has donated goods. Many of the people who have donated goods are themselves affected by arthritis and have benefitted from the excellent services provided by Arthritis New Zealand.

If you would like more information about Arthritis New Zealand, please see their website. There is even a support group for parents of children affected by arthritis.

One of my favourite movie lines is in Jaws where the chap deadpans, "I think we're going to need a bigger boat". Well judging from the volume of donations we've received for Stash reHash, "I think we're going to need a bigger table if not a bigger hall!"

If spring springing and the thought of Stash reHash has got you motivated to clean out your fabric stash but you don’t want to have a stall yourself, then I have a great option for you. Arthritis New Zealand are having a stall at Stash reHash and they welcome your donations of good quality fabric, haberdashery and craft supplies to sell on their stall.
